The purpose of this blog is not to dwell on the past but instead to properly document my life, travels and experiences abroad. Hemingway said, "Never write about a place until you're away from it because it gives you perspective." Hemingway didn't begin work on A Moveable Feast until years after he had moved away from France so I am confident his advice is sound. Things that seemed minor and mundane at the time have now become things that I treasure and miss.
So my plan is to recount my experiences chronologically beginning with my departure from Dallas and concluding with my arrival back.
I figure it will give me a chance to go back and give proper detail to my experiences and then when its all done I am to get it printed. I hope you will all enjoy and hope you will find it entertaining.

Here's the Big Picture:
In Sept. 2006 I packed my belongings up and moved to the UK to study European Studies at the University of Exeter. Then in Feb. the following yr I packed up again and planted myself in Krakow, Poland to study at Jagiellonian University. In July, it was back to Exeter to pull all my thoughts together and write my dissertation.
I blogged a bit about my experiences aboard but more than anything I just wanted to live and experience everything around me, and I did. I made friends with people all around the world, eat new foods, walked a lot, rented flats, traveled all over, got lost, got followed, paid a fine in Paris, ran after a train, offered people to "come around to mine", hosted crepe parties, slept on several trains, slept in several airports, went 2 weeks without conditioner, nearly killed myself on a scooter and because of all this and much more had a life changing experience.
So this blog is a chronical of my time as an expat. If nothing more this blog is meant to help me never forget every little detail of that yr.
